HAHAHA,
Just posted an update from months ago that I had saved to drafts by mistake.
It has a link for the proposed day 1 of the route.
Things have been a bit mental/crappy for a couple of months, been in hospital, discovered an illness I didn't know had :-(
I'll start work on the rest of the route, accommodation, transport etc in the next few weeks.
Got some other stuff to sort out this week, just thought I'd better update something so everyone doesn't think I've given up on the idea.
Regards,
Axe
This is all getting a bit confusing,
I have set up a website for the Hadrians Wall ride,
But TBH I cant get my head round keeping an eye on that site and this blog, So I'll bin off the website for now and just keep this blog up to date.
Nezza has requested a training schedule (which will be very flexible!!!) probably start with an evening ride once a week (up to 20 miles, depends on the fitness level of the attendees), which will increase to include a weekend ride as well over winter.
I'm still working on the day 2 route and will post that when I have sorted it.
for now day 1 looks like this:-

I have no idea if that works, let me know if you can follow the link or not.
That is all,

Hi Everyone,
Just had a quick look at Day 1
Looks like it'll be a long day, 80 miles (ish) but mostly sea level (about 3 hills, nothing over 300 Feet, so a total of less that 2000 feet for the day, (First day of C2C was over 3500Feet))
that will leave us with just 90 miles to cover in the last 2 days (probably a short but hilly day 2, followed by an easy day 3 freewheeling down to the east coast)
A little more info on the website http://rawsonda.wixsite.com/hadrianswall2017/single-post/2016/09/19/Day-1-route-almost-complete
The route is subject to change, It'll only get easier, not harder. (depends on how the second 2 days routes pan out)
Also Strava which I'm using to plan the routes doesn't seem to know about some of the cycle paths that Sustans know about, so some of the route will change on the ride.
That is all,
Axe.

At risk of people not following this anymore I'm going to move it over to:-
http://rawsonda.wixsite.com/hadrianswall2017
I'll keep both sites up and running for now,
but the preference and latest updates will go to the new site first.
(As it's a bit easier to manage, and looks an bit better)
If you are following this blog please update your links and follow the new one instead.
I'll update both sites with plenty of warning when this one is being shut down.
Thanks,
Axe
Hi Guys,
Quite a bit of interest in this so far :-)
The more the merrier, if you know anyone that wants to take part feel free to invite them :-)
There are a couple of things that will need ironing out though, so lets put them to a vote and I'll try to accommodate.
1:- Charity
Which one? (I prefer MacMillan, but am open to suggestions)
There is no obligation to raise sponsorship, if you want to then thats great, if you just want to take part in the ride then thats great as well, NO PRESSURE...
2:- Dates
I've already had one request for this to be at the end of June, So I propose:-
Start 16th June 2017 (this will cover fathers day which is on the 18th)
Or
Start 23rd June 2017
Both these dates are Fridays, I envision a 3 day ride so a Sunday finish.
3:- Duration of ride
Whilst I see this as a 3 day trip, we could extend it to 4 days if there is enough interest?
not to spread out the riding, we could still do 3 days in the saddle but stay overnight at the end point and have a few beers, then set off for home on the Monday morning.
For now I think these are the 3 important bits.
So if anyone has a preference let me know (add a comment) and I'll organise whatever is most popular.
If nobody has a preference then I'll make a decision and post it on here.

Hi Guys (and Gals)
As you know my big bike ride this year has been postponed due to my 'Business' trip to India :-)
I had planned on doing it next year (2017) instead, and I mentioned it to Shaz.
She wants to do the Hadrians wall ride in 2017 (the ride we had pencilled in for last year, but didn't get round to)
I've had a quick look online and the ride reports all say that it is easier (less hilly) than the C2C we have already done.
So I think it has the makings of a good weekend.
I'm thinking early in the year possibly March or April (but not the bank holiday weekends)
3 day ride, camping. (the weather has been great in March/April for the last few years so I think camping will be Ok and the weather for the ride should be warm/dry as well)
Who's in?
If there is enough interest I'll sort the route and the overnight stops.
I'll even try and sort a support vehicle and driver if needed.
Let me know.
Also I'm going to ride Stretford to Anglesey again next year (This will be the 3rd Annual Manchester-Anglesey bike ride)
I know Shaz said 'never again' but since then she has said 'maybe' so I'm taking that as a definite yes,
Anyone else interested in that? dates will probably be similar to this year, Late June/ Early July.
As a prelude to that how about a test ride to Prestatyn? probably on a Saturday then stay over and drive home Sunday (Rent a caravan for the night?)
Maybe in May or around then?
Axe.
